Forgetting: the challenge of teaching mathematics

Mathematics is a discipline of interconnected knowledge that is built on prior learning. Students are being asked to recall concepts, skills and procedures in order to successfully learn new material. Learning new content is next to impossible if pre-requisites have been forgotten. This makes the study of forgetting crucial.

Primary school now an award winning community hub

Sandringham East Primary School in bayside Melbourne has won Learning environments Australasia – Vic Chapter’s inaugural People’s Choice Award for 2020.
   “In Term One this year we gladly shared our school with our neighbours after they had a disastrous fire, and their community was blown away by our school. We were proud to be able to share it with them,” Laureen Walton, Principal says.

Southern Cross scholarships up for grabs

Southern Cross University’s Vice President (Engagement) Mr Ben Roche has welcomed additional Federal Government funding of $1.7m under the Destination Australia scholarship program, designed to encourage students to study in regional areas. The Destination Australia scholarships are worth up to $15,000 per year and other Southern Cross University scholarships can range in total value from $150 to $32,000.
