Primary Teachers' Confidence in Teaching Technology Questioned

Teachers are aware that they are preparing students for 21st century workplaces, but they don't necessarily have the skills to embed digital technologies in deep and meaningful ways at present. Teachers are more likely to use technology for low-level tasks like word processing, PowerPoint or internet research rather than high-level tasks like critical thinking, creativity, or collaboration.

Stranger Danger! Equipping Kids for Online Safety

In 2014, a study undertaken in the UK suggested that children who had strict rules applied to their internet and online activities demonstrated lower online confidence than their peers.
   Fast forward to the 2021 ESET survey and still a worrying 21% of the kids responded they 'didn’t know' if anyone had acted in a nasty or harmful way toward them online which means there is much to be done. Read more

A Principal’s Progress

Darren Lawson’s latest role as the new principal at ACC Moreton is another chapter in a colourful career. He has been an Olympic cyclist, travelled extensively and worked in the business sector before hitting his straps as educator.
   Rather than actively pursuing leadership roles, his progression from teacher to principal has been more about personality and aptitude.

Dorothea Mackellar Wants Young Australian Poets' Opinion

Beginning as a competition for local schools in Gunnedah NSW the Dorothea Mackellar Poetry awards have grown to be Australia's largest and oldest poetry competition for children.
  Entrants are given freedom to express themselves on any topic but this year's optional theme is 'In My Opinion', with students encouraged to write passionately and persuasively about the topics that interest them. Read more
