Why Spelling Bees Are No Longer the Buzz

If we tried to learn all of the words we know through the ubiquitous Friday morning spelling tests, that would amount to 6,000 tests, over about 150 years of schooling - and that’s assuming we had a perfect score each time.

Early entry programs offer a way to alleviate the pressure and the indications are that students who have been through the process tend to do very well at the tertiary level.
   Swinburne originally offered a limited number of places via their Early Entry Program because the university wanted to track these students' performance and the data have shown that they tend to perform so the program will be expanded.

Aussie Teenager Wins Asian Physics Olympiad

The Asian Physics Olympiad is renowned for being one of the toughest physics competitions for high school students in the world and a Sydney Year 12 student has outperformed 200 students from 28 countries to win it.
  A Knox Grammar School student won a gold medal along with two special awards for the highest laboratory mark and highest overall score in the competition.
