When My School is updated the temptation is to treat these results as you would a competition.
   But rather than a sprint it should be seen more as a horserace where some contestants are handicapped.
   Publishing tables of results as though some schools have ‘won’ over others fails to address context, but it is kind of fun, in a mean way.

Clear Frameworks Key to Helping Schools Tackle Racism

Clear, consistent frameworks support safer, more inclusive school communities says new research into racism in South Australian schools. Schools are the most common setting where young people experience racism, with alarming rates of incidents reported nationwide. At the research school site, 80 per cent of students had witnessed or experienced racism more than once in the past year, nearly half said they encountered it weekly. Read more

The growth in administrative staff in schools and in central departments has far outstripped the increase in teachers and students since 2015. The most dramatic staffing growth has occurred in state education departments. The growth in administrative staff reflects increasing reporting and compliance regulations required by governments and is absorbing an increasing proportion of expenditure on public schools. Neurodivergent Children Are Asking to Be Seen, Not Fixed

Too often, we talk about neurodiversity as though awareness alone is enough - in reality, it isn’t.
   The real problem is the disconnect in how support is organised between adults supporting a neurodivergent child, and the solution, which starts with bringing everyone into alignment. Otherwise a child ends up carrying the weight of inconsistent expectations.
